A man is charged with two felonies after allegedly performing cosmetic injections without a license from a Brickell-area office. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said a 39-year-old man, identified as Yumyut Sali Mustafa (also known as Yumit Mustafa), was arrested following an undercover operation in Miami.
Mustafa ran YM Aesthetics Miami from an office in the Latitude One building at 175 SW Seventh Street. On his clinic’s website, Mustafa, described in arrest records as a Bulgarian-born British national, also promotes an office in London.
According to investigators, an undercover Florida Department of Health operative arranged a Botox appointment with Mustafa on Wednesday. During the encounter, the operative asked if she was texting Dr. Mustafa, to which he replied, “I am indeed.”
When the operative met Mustafa for a $599 forehead injection, he claimed the product he would use was approved by the FDA. Investigators later found that the product was Re-N-Tox, described as a foreign, unapproved product from South Korea that cannot be dispensed in the United States.
The takedown was triggered after the operative signaled an undercover operation, and deputies from the Medical Crimes Unit of the MDSO moved in to arrest Mustafa.
Mustafa, who also resides in Brickell, faces felony charges of practicing health care without a license, possession of a prescription drug with intent to sell, and a misdemeanor charge for misrepresenting himself as a licensed physician.
In response to a one-star Google review noting that Mustafa is not licensed to provide injectables, YM Aesthetics’ owner reportedly commented that licensing and professional conduct are taken seriously and that the clinic aims to maintain high standards of care and compliance.
As of Thursday morning, Mustafa remained detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
