It is with profound sorrow that we bid farewell to Stewart (Stew) Jotham, who passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 81. Stew's passing marks the end of a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and service to his community. As a devoted husband to Patricia (Petker) for over 56 years, Stew was the bedrock of his family, guiding and supporting his children, Sean, Kelley (Cory McKeown), and Matthew, and adoring his grandchildren, Mia and Adam Jotham, as well as step-grandchildren, Morgan (Daisy) Papineau-McKeown, Jax, and Taia McKeown. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Lynda Jotham, brother-in-law Dave Ruetz, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom cherished his presence.
Stew's dedication to public service was exemplified by his 33-year career as a police officer with the City of Guelph, where he retired as an Inspector. His colleagues and the community he served will forever remember him with warmth and admiration, recalling his unwavering commitment and the stories he shared with a smile. The family extends their gratitude to the dedicated medical and support staff at The Elliott, as well as Dr. David Cranmer and his team, for their compassionate care over the years.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, at Gilbert McIntyre & Son Funeral Home – Hart Chapel, located at 1099 Gordon St. South, Guelph, at 11:00 AM. Following the service, a visitation and reception will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, offering an opportunity for friends and family to gather, share stories, and celebrate Stew's life. In keeping with Stew's wishes, cremation has taken place, and interment will follow at Memory Gardens, 2723 Victoria St. N., in Breslau, at 3:00 PM. The family invites donations to The Elliott, the Guelph Humane Society, Canadian Cancer Society, The Legion, or any first responder support organization as a meaningful tribute to Stew's legacy of service and compassion.
