The initial search was called off around 8:30 PM due to the encroaching darkness, but it has now resumed with the dawn. Nathan Fife from Surf Life Saving Queensland confirmed their support, stating, "We're just supporting the Gold Coast Water Police and searching to see if we can locate him."
