Remembering Miles L Carpenter (1944-2026): A Life of Service and Family (2026)

It's with a heavy heart that we remember Miles Ludlow Carpenter, a life well-lived, who departed on January 7, 2026. He left behind a legacy of love, service, and a deep connection to family and community. Miles, the son of the late Perley and Rheta (Wilkinson) Carpenter, and husband of the late Fernande (Robichaud) Carpenter, was a man who touched many lives.

Born in Oakville, NB, and raised in Marysville, Miles' journey began. After graduating from FHS, he pursued higher education at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he earned his BBA. This led him back to Fredericton, where he embarked on a career with the provincial government.

In 1972, Miles' life took a beautiful turn when he met his beloved Fernande. They married shortly after their first date and shared 48 wonderful years together, a testament to their enduring love, until her passing 5 years prior. Volunteering, church, and community service were integral parts of their shared life.

Over the years, Miles was actively involved in Scouting, the Knights of Columbus, and various committees and organizations. Upon his retirement from the government, he established a consulting company, which allowed him to dedicate more time to the Knights of Columbus and his passion for genealogy. And this is the part most people miss... He spent countless hours researching the Carpenter family tree, authoring two books, and organizing numerous family reunions. His dedication to preserving his family's history is truly remarkable.

He had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life, including gardening, fishing, hunting, reading, and woodworking. Miles cherished the outdoors and, above all, treasured spending time with his family, especially his wife and grandsons.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Michelle (Brent) Dore and Jamie (Jennifer) Carpenter; his grandsons, Jake Dore (Alyssa) and Riley Dore (Robyn); and his great-granddaughters, Oaklynn, Vallie, and Daphne. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents and wife, Miles was predeceased by his brothers, Johnny, Murray, and Terry. He was also predeceased by his in-laws, Onesime and Gertrude Robichaud, along with many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11th, 2026, from 1-4 PM at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 12th at 11 AM, at Holy Family Parish Church, 1500 Hanwell Road, officiated by Father Bill Brennan. A private family burial will follow at a later date.

Special thanks are extended to the staff in Dixon at York Care for their care and support over the past three years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. But here's where it gets controversial... What kind of impact do you think Miles' dedication to his community and family had? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
