Extreme Fire Danger Alert: Victorians, Stay Vigilant!
As the heat returns to Victoria, a critical fire danger warning has been issued for tomorrow. With an extreme fire danger rating across most regions, the state is bracing for potentially devastating conditions.
The forecast predicts warm temperatures and north-westerly winds, followed by a gusty south-westerly change. Only the South-West and East Gippsland Fire Districts are expected to have a slightly lower fire danger rating, classified as high.
Melbourne is set to reach a scorching 32 degrees, with a high chance of afternoon and evening showers. However, the northern parts of the state are predicted to be even hotter, with temperatures soaring to a dangerous 40 degrees in Mildura. Echuca and Bendigo are also expected to experience extreme heat, with highs of 39 and 36 degrees, respectively.
In Gippsland, Bairnsdale is forecast to reach a peak of 37 degrees, accompanied by afternoon and evening rain, ranging from 5 to 15mm. Moderate north to north-westerly winds of up to 30 km/h are expected before a cooler south-westerly change moves across the state.
A band of rain is also anticipated to pass over Victoria during the afternoon and evening, providing some relief from the heat. Most regions are expected to receive a few millimetres of rainfall.
The north-east district is already under a total fire ban today due to the combination of hot, dry conditions and moderate westerly winds. Thankfully, no total fire ban has been declared for any part of Victoria tomorrow, but authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
A press conference is scheduled for 2.30 pm today, where officials will provide an update on tomorrow's fire danger. Stay tuned for the latest information and be prepared!
