The Yankees have unveiled their spring training non-roster invitee hitters, a diverse group of players with varying levels of experience and potential. This list includes several top prospects and some familiar veteran names, offering a mix of talent and intrigue for the upcoming season. Among the catchers, Abrahan Gutierrez, Payton Henry, and Miguel Palma stand out. Gutierrez, a right-handed hitter, showcased his skills with a .235/.316/.275 slash line, one home run, and six RBIs in 32 games between Low-A and Triple-A in 2025. Henry, a righty catcher, made his MLB debut for the Marlins in 2021, slashing .186/.314/.209 in 51 plate appearances. Palma, another right-handed hitter, played 41 games between Rookie, Double-A, and Triple-A last season, with a .155/.264/.264 slash line. Ali Sánchez, the fourth righty catcher, brings experience from the Red Sox, Mets, Cardinals, Marlins, Blue Jays, and Red Sox, with a .183/.220/.233 slash line in 133 plate appearances across the last six seasons. In the infield, the Yankees have added Jonathan Ornelas, George Lombard Jr., Paul DeJong, and Zack Short. Ornelas, a righty-hitting shortstop and third baseman, made his MLB debut in 2023 and received an 18-game runout in 2024. Lombard Jr., the Yankees' top-ranked prospect, impressed with a .235/.367/.381 slash line and 127 wRC+ in 132 games between High-A and Double-A in 2025. DeJong, a former All-Star shortstop, brings injury insurance with a .228/.269/.373 slash line in 57 games for the Nationals last year. Short, primarily a shortstop, has batted .172/.271/.296 with 15 home runs in 243 big league games. Outfielders Kenedy Corona and Duke Ellis round out the group. Corona, a righty outfielder, signed with the Yankees after clearing waivers, while Ellis, a 28-year-old outfielder, made a surprising late addition to the ALDS roster in 2024. Utility players Ernesto Martínez Jr. and Seth Brown complete the list. Martínez Jr., a lefty first baseman, improved his walk rate and limited strikeouts in 2025, while Brown, a lefty bat, has struggled defensively but could contribute with the bat if he regains some respectability.
